Built between 1888 and 1900 by Danish architect Viggo Dorph Petersen, Château Valmy stands on the lower slopes of the Albères massif overlooking the Mediterranean at Argelès-sur-Mer, twenty minutes from Collioure and the Spanish border. The estate has been a working family vineyard since 1930 and the bilingual website and reception team are used to handling enquiries from UK, Irish and US couples drawn to the Catalan coast.
The Vall Maria reception hall seats 180 for dinner and takes up to 250 for cocktails, with an elevated terrace looking out over the vines to the sea, a Mediterranean garden and a pergola at the foot of the grounds. Five guest rooms in the château itself house the immediate party, with Argelès-sur-Mer hotels and rentals absorbing the wider group; estate wines from Côtes du Roussillon and Muscat de Rivesaltes pour through the celebration.
