Privacy policy.

1. Who we are

getmarriedinfrance.net (the “site”, “directory”) is an editorial guide to French wedding venues for English-speaking couples. The directory is owned and operated by Jean-Luc Benazet, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy-related question, write to hello@getmarriedinfrance.net.

2. Editorial independence

The directory is wholly independent. We are not affiliated with, owned by, sponsored by or paid by any of the venues listed. We do not accept money, gifts or commissions in exchange for inclusion, ranking, featured placement, photography, prose, or any other editorial decision. Every venue on the site has been included on its own merits, on the basis of publicly available information about its English-speaking service and suitability for international weddings.

If we ever introduce paid features (for example a future “featured listing” tier for venues), any paid content will be clearly disclosed as such on the page on which it appears, and free editorial listings will continue alongside.

A separate, paid consulting service — localising existing French wedding pages into English — is offered to venues at for-venues.html. This work involves translating existing venue copy, not writing it from scratch, so the editorial voice on the venue's own website remains the venue's own. Engaging this service does not influence whether or how a venue is listed in the directory: the directory listing is free and remains free, the editorial selection process is unchanged, and consulting clients are not ranked, featured or promoted differently from any other venue. The list of current and past consulting clients is available on request.

3. What we collect

When you use the contact form, list-your-venue form, or email us directly, we receive:

• Your name and email address (required).
• The contents of your message.
• Any optional fields you choose to complete — wedding date, guest count, venue or region of interest, and the type of enquiry (venue recommendation, photography, videography, listing).

We do not collect any sensitive personal data, payment details, identity documents or location information.

4. Why we hold it and how long

We use this data only to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to introduce you to a venue or supplier listed on the site. Enquiries are kept for as long as the conversation is active and for up to twenty-four months afterwards, in case you come back to us. After that they are deleted.

We do not sell, rent, share or otherwise pass on your data to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not add you to any mailing list without your active consent.

5. Third-party services we rely on

To keep the site simple, we rely on a small number of third-party services:

• Web3Forms — delivers contact-form submissions to our inbox. Web3Forms briefly processes the form fields you submit to forward them by email. Their privacy policy is available at web3forms.com/privacy-policy.
• Hostinger — provides hosting for the site. Server logs may include your IP address and request information, retained for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
• Google Fonts — loads the typefaces used on the site. Browsers connect to fonts.googleapis.com when they render a page.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or third-party retargeting tools.

6. Cookies

The site does not set any first-party cookies of its own. Third-party services listed above may set technical cookies necessary to deliver their functionality (for example, content delivery and font caching), but none of these are used for advertising, tracking or profiling.

7. Venue and supplier listings

Profile content for each venue is compiled from information published on the venue's own official website at the time of writing. We attribute and link to the source on every venue page. If you operate a venue listed here and wish to request a correction, an update, additional details, additional photography, or full removal from the directory, email hello@getmarriedinfrance.net and we will act within ten working days.

8. Your rights (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Ask us to delete your data (the “right to be forgotten”).
• Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@getmarriedinfrance.net. We will respond within one calendar month.

9. Children

The site and its services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have inadvertently received data from a child, email us and we will delete it without delay.

10. International transfers

Some of the third-party services we rely on (notably Web3Forms and Google Fonts) are based outside the UK and the EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, those providers operate under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable care to protect personal data against accidental loss, unauthorised access and disclosure. However, no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure; you submit information at your own risk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example when we add a new service, a new feature, or to clarify wording. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page. The current version was last updated on the date shown below.
