Wedding venues near Carcassonne
The walled cité is the picture everyone has in their head. The venues are a short drive out of it, among Minervois and Corbières vines, where an estate can be taken whole for several days and nobody hurries you off at midnight.
Can you get married near Carcassonne if you do not speak French?
Yes. The three venues listed here all conduct business in English. The legal marriage is a separate matter: French law requires one of you to have lived in the commune for 30 days before the banns, so most couples from abroad marry legally at home and hold the ceremony and celebration in France.

Two UNESCO sites in one weekend
The Cité de Carcassonne was inscribed by UNESCO in 1997, and the Canal du Midi in 1996. They are twenty minutes apart. That matters less for the wedding day than for the two days either side of it, which is when guests who have flown in decide whether the trip was worth it.
The canal runs through the plain below the city, plane trees meeting overhead for most of its length. Boats can be hired by the day, which is a gentler way to occupy forty people than a coach.
Questions couples ask
Getting married near Carcassonne
Which airport should guests fly into for a wedding near Carcassonne?
Carcassonne Salvaza is 3 km from the city and takes low-cost flights from several UK airports, though the schedule is seasonal. Toulouse is 85 km away and carries far more routes year round. Most groups split between the two.
When is the best time of year to marry in the Aude?
May, June and September are the usual choices. July and August are reliably hot and busy, and the Aude regularly passes 35 C, which is uncomfortable for an outdoor ceremony at midday. Spring and early autumn give long light and manageable heat.
Can we hold the whole weekend at one venue?
All three venues on this page offer exclusive hire, and two have enough beds for a substantial part of the party. Multi-day hire is normal in this part of France rather than an unusual request.
Do we need a French wedding planner?
Not necessarily. Where a venue runs weddings in English and has done so for years, couples often deal with the venue directly. A planner earns their fee when you are combining several independent suppliers, or when you want someone on the ground in the months before.

A note on independence
getmarriedinfrance.net is an independent, curated directory. We are not affiliated with, owned by or paid by any of the venues listed. Each profile is compiled from information published on the venue's own website at the time of writing, and details such as capacity, languages, accommodation, pricing and noise restrictions can change without notice. Please verify anything that matters to your day directly with the venue before committing, and make your own informed decision. All bookings, deposits and contracts are between you and the venue.
